Introduction to the Center
The Center for the Physics of Low-Dimensional Materials (CPLDM), as a new interdisciplinary research institution, dates back to Aug. 2018 when the center was founded as Nanomaterials Physics Laboratory in School of Physics and Electronics, Henan University. It was later reorganized as CPLDM in 2021. The center has currently 8 faculty members, including 3 full professors, 3 associate professors and 2 lecturers. It also has more than 30 graduate students and 2 undergraduate students. The research interests of CPLDM are focused on the physical foundations for low-dimensional materials and systems. The on-going research topics involve: 1) Growth principles and methodology of two-dimensional crystals; 2) Nanophotonics and devices of low-dimensional materials; 3) Infrared optics and ultrafast laser physics.
The center covers an area of about 300 square meters, and owns a well-equipped facility, including High-energy picosecond pulse laser, Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, Elliptical polarizer, Mid-Infrared spectrometer, Femtosecond fiber laser, Mid-Infrared fiber laser, Argon-Krypton ion laser, Fiber laser, Keithley 4200 SCS parameter analyzer, Magnetron sputtering instrument, Chemical vapor deposition system and various material characterization instruments. The facility has served for the nanomaterials preparation, spectroscopic characterization, optoelectronic device physics and ultrafast laser physics researches. In addition, over 10 research funds have been obtained from the Ministry of Science and Technology, National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Department of Science and Technology of Henan Province and other funding sponsors, with a total number of over 5 million RMB.
In the past five years, CPLDM has published more than 50 SCI papers, including Nature Photonics, Nature Communication, ACS Nano, Nano Energy, Applied Physics Letters, etc., which are highlighted frequently by Nature Photonics, Sina News, etc., and held over 10 authorized patents. CPLDM also published several invited authoritative review articles in Chem. Soc. Rev., Nano Res., etc. These achievements have been recognized as the Henan Youth Science and Technology Award, Henan Province Award for Natural Science (3nd class), etc.
